A woman’s attempt to try something new has the potential to lead to something good or something disastrous in this short film comedy from Madison Hatfield.
June is a young woman who meets up with two friends for lunch and upon hearing that they both serve as the dominants in their relationship, believes she has what it takes to become one too. Using a dating app, she meets Jeff, who is willing to serve as a submissive for the right person. When she finally has her date with Jeff, she becomes extremely nervous. Jeff becomes suspicious if June really is as dominant as she sets out to be. To both of them, this will be a night neither will forget.
This is a fun quirky comedy from writer-director-star Madison Hatfield about a woman’s attempt to try out a new lifestyle to prove to her two besties that she can do it. However, it is clear even from the trio’s initial conversation at a restaurant that she might have the tools necessary. Hatfield pulls in a great performance as someone who wants to look good to her friends and is absolutely willing to try the new lifestyle as a dominant.
Of course, this would be a possible recipe for disaster. And yet, it seems like June just wants to try something new and needs help. This is where Jeff, played by Derek Evans, comes in. He can sense something’s not right about June, but is willing to go as far as assisting her in how being a dominant works. It does seem awkward at times but it seems to be more than just a relationship in the lifestyle, but June begins to have feelings for Jeff. One can only hope for the best and judging from how she portrays the character, Hatfield could be a potential comic star if this short has anything to say.
I Could Dom is a cute, quirky rom-com driven by a terrific performance by Madison Hatfield. She is definitely going to be a name to look out for.
The film will be screened at the HollyShorts Film Festival at 2:30pm PST at the TLC Chinese Theater on August 11. For more information, check out the HollyShort Film Festival’s official website at https://www.hollyshorts.com/
