A horror legend is going back to its indie roots.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre rights have been given to independent label A24, known for its amazing distribution of films like the Oscar-winning Everything Everywhere All at Once and the recently released Marty Supreme.
The company, who are responsible for the upcoming Crystal Lake, the prequel series to Friday the 13th, are in the midst of developing a new television series on the TCSM property as well as a new film.
Glen Powell, one of Hollywood’s new generation A-listers and fellow Texan, will be an executive producer on the series along with Roy Lee and original TCSM co-creator Kim Henkel. Ian Henkel and Pat Cassidy will be producing the project with The Long Walk screenwriter J.T. Mollner set to direct.
No casting has been announced nor plot summary. However, with the franchise now going a TV series route, it will be quite interesting how things can be played out. Maybe the series will be set prior to the original film? A bridge between the first two movies?
Let’s wait and see how this plays out, but as a fan of the franchise with the original film my all-time favorite horror film, this is quite anticipating.
