From Spider One comes this horror tale of a screenwriter whose latest creation may be his biggest downfall as the lines between fantasy and reality slowly get burned. 

Adam Lewis is a successful horror screenwriter who has hit writer’s block. A nightmare about a serial killer in his head becomes the inspiration for his new script. As the nightmares emerge more in his head, he finally comes up with a mask and a name for the killer. He names him “Big Baby”. Married to Kate, Adam begins to craft the script and as he writes more and more, he begins to become slowly under pressure to get it done.

Things slowly begin to emerge when he imagines the killer coming to life after he supposedly witnessed a young woman being followed and killed by Big Baby. When Adam tries to tell Kate what happened, they discover nothing or no one is at the site where the young woman was killed. Adam’s mentality slowly begins to diminish when he even gets a visit from one of his “characters” and Kate begins to distance herself from Adam. When Adam is forced to finish the script with Kate’s life in the balance, will he be strong enough to finish the script or will it be too late?

The latest film from Powerman 5000 leader (and Rob Zombie’s brother) Spider One comes this film that not only brings slasher kills and boasts a cast of great genre vets, but also adds a touch of one of Stephen King’s best works in the mix in terms of its lead character. 

Brandon Scott brings a wonderful performance in the role of Adam, the successful screenwriter who is trying to make the next big horror film. However, he has hit a bit of a roadblock and turns towards his wife Kate, played by producer/editor and genre vet Krsy Fox. She is, for the most part, very supportive but as the film progresses, we see Kate slowly begin to distance herself as Adam slowly goes into Jack Torrance mode, minus the axe, but rather see the killer he envisions come to life doing the dirty work. 

Genre veterans Sierra McCormick (Some Kind of Hate), Catherine Corcoran (Terrifier and Return to Nuke ‘Em High), and David Howard Thornton (Art the Clown himself) make appearances in the film as well as Chaz Bono, who served as executive producer alongside his mother, Cher. Adam Marcinowski is aces as the titular killer, an overpowering brute sporting a baby mask and unleashes his fury with an axe and even goes to kill one character by embedding a cross in their skull, decapitatiing the victim, and impaling it on the wall. 

Big Baby meshes elements of slashers with a dash of The Shining in terms of its lead character with a twist. The cast does quite well, and the kills will satisfy those who love gore. The finale does bring a bit of a jaw-drop. This is sure to please genre fans.
