A man’s secret obsession with a woman goes way too far and leads to dire consequences in the latest film from filmmaker/musician Tim Kasher. 

Caleb is a man who lives with his father and grandmother, and goes to an art class. He is obsessed with his camera and is an aspiring filmmaker. He decides to make a documentary and finds who he thinks is the perfect subject. He meets a new art teacher, Krista, and is instantly enthralled with her. He explains the idea for the documentary without revealing his true intentions. Reluctantly, Krista agrees, and the two work together. 

However, Caleb is driven to the point of obsession when he begins doing things to make Krista uncomfortable. When he’s not shooting Krista on film, Caleb is in a band, and his constant use of his camera attracts the attention of fellow aspiring filmmaker Tawnia. When Caleb decides to break into Krista’s apartment and put a hidden camera in, he is unhappy with her relationship with fellow teacher Mike. When Caleb resorts to kidnapping Krista, Tawnia, learning of Caleb’s obsession, may be the only one capable of finding her, but can she stop Caleb as well?

Tim Kasher’s latest film is a look at the worlds of obsession and stalking, taken to a level of insanity through the eyes of an unhinged man. What Kasher did in terms of visuals is quite striking. There are first-person point-of-view shots and two-shots as if we are watching from a camera lens of the subjects. It’s quite impressive, and considering the subject matter, it gives us a look at the very insane Caleb, played by Zachary Ray Sherman. 

Sherman is excellent as Caleb, who we see in a band and as an aspiring filmmaker, filming himself with his grandmother, who is suffering from dementia, while getting reamed out by his father for not really holding a job. We see him with his band at the lake at times, where he finds himself having some “competition” with Tawnia, played by a very determined Olivia Luccardi. She also has aspirations as a filmmaker; when she sees Caleb point his camera at her upon first glance, she returns the favor by pointing her camera at him. 

Gracie Gillam, who played quite the unhinged character in Superhost, is also great as Krista, the object of Caleb’s fanatical obsession. She comes off as a sweet-natured individual who teaches an adult art class and at first, is reluctant to help Caleb’s documentary. However, she decides to go along with it until boundaries begin to get crossed. When Caleb resorts to breaking in and placing a hidden camera before doing something drastic, it leads to a very shocking final act that is jaw-dropping and could go in the vein on a certain cult classic genre film. 

Who’s Watching is a visually enhanced thriller that showcases some amazing performances by Zachary Ray Sherman and Gracie Gillam, as well as a powerful supporting performance by Olivia Luccardi that ends in a very shocking final act. 

The film will be released on Digital and in select theaters on September 18.
