Jake Harris is back for his third and final mission in the action-packed trilogy capper reuniting Scott Adkins and James Nunn.

After the incident in Poland, where he lost most of his team, all Navy SEAL Jake Harris wants to do is go home to his family. But he can’t. Admiral Mulholland has learned that ex-Navy SEAL Elliot Carter has now become a domestic terrorist, and it was he who caused the casualties in Poland. Carter now has something major planned for Washington D.C. When a dirty bomb rocks the Capitol, the Chiefs of Staff enter a secluded mansion on the outskirts of the city.

Carter leads a band of mercenaries who are also former American soldiers. When Harris joins a hostage rescue team at the facility, they eventually find themselves caught when a member steps on a specialized mine. After Harris finds the last remaining Chief of Staff who had escaped, Elena Torres, Harris plans to help her escape, but soon finds himself facing Carter, who was once a comrade and friend to Harris. Soon, friends are destined to be enemies and Harris has one mission: stop the enemy at all costs.

It all started with One Shot in 2021. Then came One More Shot in 2024. It was only fitting that this action franchise comes to a conclusion with this film, with its appropriate title. For those unfamiliar with the franchise, its attraction comes in the form that these are one-take action films. That’s right. No cuts, from the looks of things (although there may be some hidden cuts, but it’s hardly noticeable).

Adkins once again shows why he is one of this generation’s greatest action heroes. With a career spanning over 25 years, he is one of those heroes who have both the acting chops and has some amazing martial arts skills. The acting part of him is quite a highlight here with his role of the now-recovering Jake Harris, who clearly has had enough. He just wants to go home to his family, but once again, he’s called up and must go on a covert mission to go after an old friend turned enemy. Dolph Lundgren’s Admiral Mulholland is quite a commanding force who tells Harris that all he has to do is make sure the enemy ends up in a body bag, because of politics that will cause a major storm if it gets out in public.

One has to hand it to Steven Cree’s villain, Elliot Carter. While he resorts to domestic terrorism, he is doing what he does for the sake of his fellow fallen soldiers and their families, who he felt had been shafted by the government. While Carter takes the lead when it comes to villainy, one of his henchmen really takes the cake when it comes to the action. Enter Kane Kosugi, who plays Carter’s cohort Lee, a former Green Beret, and he gets to go toe-to-toe with Adkins not once, but twice. Adkins and Kosugi had a stellar fight in Ninja: Shadow of a Tear but here, under that film’s action director Tim Man, shows some amazing grounded action in their fights but seeing Kosugi unleash those kicks of his, it’s just chef’s kiss. And there’s also a great vehicle chase scene that feels like you’re watching a video game come to life!

One Last Shot is a great end to an action franchise with Scott Adkins showing why he is one of this generation’s greatest action talents who can combine action and acting. His fights with Kane Kosugi are a highlight and yes, I do mean fight with an “s” at the end!
