Those who have been fans of Joe Cornet‘s Western franchise in Rio Bravo, currently consisting of Gunfight at Rio Bravo and Taken from Rio Bravo, will be excited to learn that production has begun on the next and final installment of the franchise, The Last Heroes of Rio Bravo.

The franchise stars Indie World Cinema Hall of Famer Alexander Nevsky as Ivan Turchin, a Russian-born Civil War general who after the war has become a heroic gunslinger in the Wild West.

This time around, Nevsky will not only return to the role of Ivan Turchin, but he takes over directing duties. In the film, Turchin, now sheriff of Rio Bravo, takes on a ruthless outlaw gang holding the town hostage.

The cast for this installment includes action icons Lorenzo Lamas and Olivier Gruner, along with Nick Baillie, Tatiana Neva, and James Chalk. Craig Hamann returns as the film’s screenwriter.

The film will be represented by Prestige International Pictures at the upcoming American Film Market with a worldwide release scheduled for 2027.

In the meantime, check out the trailers for the first two films, which are both currently streaming on Tubi.
